Knowing by faith that God will not fail you
Every problem and troubling situation believers face in this life is allowed by God for a specific purpose. He is working out something far greater than what appears to be happening as he guides the process of transforming you into the image of Christ. Your faith is being sharpened as a sword to equip you for the battles of this world. The path of victory has already been set and there is nothing that can destroy a believer who has put his faith in the cross of Jesus. We are commanded to be anxious for nothing and no one. But, is that still possible when the darkness of the storm surrounds us?
The truth is that the strength to endure every painful trial is with you in Christ. If your eyes were opened to view the spiritual battle that is raging, you would see the grand army of the living God totally surrounding and protecting you with powerful weapons far greater than those against you. Though you will still endure the attacks of the enemy, your hope of victory is secure because of the cross of Christ. You may be feeling weary and completely overwhelmed but the bible tells us that God is close to the broken-hearted and he is near to us in our pain. He does not abandon you when your situation is bleak. As you lift up your fears to him in thankfulness and prayer, you allow his power to be unleashed in your life as he takes your struggle and makes it work into his perfect plan for you. God knows your weaknesses and has seen your failures yet his power is more than enough to take you safely through. You may be wounded but you will never be destroyed!
The Apostle Paul knew that each step of his journey was put in place by his Savior. He learned how to wait on God for all that he needed. He was able to be content even in suffering and persecution because he trusted in Christ. He never thought that God forgot about him when he was without food or money. He was willing to endure whatever it took for his purpose in Christ to be fulfilled. The thorn in his side was not to take him down but to remind him that it was all for God’s glory. Paul expressed his trust in 2 Timothy 1:12 when he said, ” For I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that he is more than able to care for that which I give to him for this day“. That is faith in action!
God is not late to help us even when all hope appears to be dwindling down. Even the timing of Christ’ suffering and death on the cross was planned long before the world was formed. It happened at the perfect, precise moment that God chose it to be. There was no detail left undone as Jesus completed the work of redemption for a lost world. Sin and death was overcome by the cross as Jesus uttered this powerful promise saying, “It is finished!”
Take heart, dear beloved, and know without a doubt that your situation is not dead. It is being worked out in the timing of God who already knows the outcome. There is an eternal purpose for your suffering. You are not waiting for God to show up for he already has. You are holding on for the perfection of the plan he is now working out in your life.
The struggles and trials you suffer are always an opportunity for God to reveal his power to you. Each time a painful situation brings you to your knees, use that position to give glory to God! It frustrates the devil when you do. Never let the enemy convince you to surrender in the heat of battle for you are nowhere near being defeated. You have been made more than a conqueror through Christ and he is not about to let you fail.
Dear Lord, I pray that you make your promise and your hope real to those who are struggling in a painful circumstance. Help them to know that you are with them no matter how weary they become. Strengthen them in your will and give them your peace to hold onto the truth. Amen

Marianne – what encouraging words . . .in tough situations God’s power and love are able to be demonstated in a powerful way IF we trust Him. I think it takes discernment in God’s Word to know if our suffering is from walking counter to God verses persecution like Paul experienced. I think often this discernment is lacking and people neglect to see their sin that is causing their situations. And as long as they remain blind because of a lack of love for the truth – their lives will reflect it.

Thank you, Rachel. You are so right when you said IF we trust him can God’s power be demonstrated in a powerful way. I agree with you that discernment is laking in people so they stay victim to the enemy, blinded to his lies. Your words make me think about my own life and the areas that I have still not trusted Christ fully. Good thoughts.

the story of Jesus telling his disciples to get in the boat cause they were going to the other side comes to mind. A terrible storm arose on the way there remember. It didn’t look like he cared and it looked like they would drown–and he was asleep in the back of the boat. But he did care and he was in control and so he is in our storms. He will take us to the other side.

Hi Ken, I thought about that scripture when I wrote this. The apostles thought that the storm was going to take them down when the Master of the wind was right there in the boat with them! Aren’t we like them a lot of the time? In the middle of our problem, is God going to go anywhere?
If you know of his love, you know the answer.
Take care, Ken

Marianne, there is so much wisdom and insight in the words of this post. My mind turns to the many incidents in scripture where Jesus set the captive free and healed so many of their infirmities, but there are so many more untold stories all about us of the great power of Jesus at work in the world. The greatest sermons never preached remain hidden behind curtains that have been drawn over private victories accomplished through modest warriors who take a stand for Jesus. Jesus so often moves the mountains in our lives and we fail to see it because our attention is focused on lifes little bumps. I often look back to see the calming of a storm and instead wittness the parting of the sea and realize “if it hadn’t been for Jesus….”

I just love what you said, Rev. York. You have such a way of putting things that just absolutely touches my heart!
“I often look back to see the calming of a storm and instead wittness the parting of the sea and realize “if it hadn’t been for Jesus….”
How poetically true that is! Jesus not only calms the sea of trouble in our lives but also parts the waters to allow a great passage into the place of victory that he has for us!
Thanks once again for stopping by and for all the support that you give to me.

Hello Marianne, thank you for the encouraging message. I needed it so much. The true word says that everything works out for good for those who loves the Lord, and I am comforted by that Promise of the Faithfull God. As christians, we are always faced with battles so that we never take our eyes off the Lord and for that we should always be glad because the Lord always delivers us mightly so that we may glorify His name. May the good Lord always fill you with his wisdom as you carry out his work. Marianne, may you and yours always be blessed by the Lord.

Marianne, this is a good post and surely worthy of revisiting. “YOU HAVE BEEN MADE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR THROUGH CHRIST AND HE IS NOT ABOUT TO LET YOU FAIL.” I was in the process of replying to something that you had written on my last post and my computer crashed and I lost it. I was looking at a couple verses of scripture from the eighth chapter of the book of Romans. Tonight I returned here and realized that your quote is also from the eighth chapter of the book of Romans.
Just imagine Marianne that a Christian should be so beaten down that he or she could not pray. The battle is so desperate that Gods little one is speechless when kneeling to pray. Now consider this when you look at those two verses of scripture from that eighth chapter of Romans; twenty six and twenty seven. “LIKEWISE ALSO THE SPIRIT HELPETH OUR INFIRMITIES: FOR WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE SHOULD PRAY FOR AS WE OUGHT: BUT THE SPIRIT ITSELF MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US WITH GROANINGS WHICH CANNOT BE UTTERED. AND HE THAT SEARCHETH THE HEARTS KNOWETH WHAT IS THE MIND OF THE SPIRIT, BECAUSE HE MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR THE SAINTS ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD.” Do you see the power at work there Marianne…sure you do! In our weakest state when no strength is left to even call upon he who “LEADS US BESIDE THOSE STILL WATERS AND RESTORES OUR SOULS,” Jesus kneels beside us and gently whispers, “SHHHH, LET ME DO THIS ONE FOR YOU!”
The very girders of Hell buckle beneath the weight of the prayer of Jesus and that is what promped Paul to make his profound declaration of faith in the ninth verse of the twelfth chapter of Second Corinthians; “AND HE SAID UNTO ME, MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE: FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS. MOST GLADLY THEREFORE WILL I RATHER GLORY IN MY INFIRMITIES, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME.” Marianne, a wounded Christian in the valley of death is formidable foe for Heavens Watchers are on the wall.

I really appreciate your wisdom, Rev. York. You said that when we are in our weakened state that God’s spirit intevenes for us and that is what I want to believe now. Sometimes I feel so oppressed by the enemy that my energy is literally depleated. It is difficult for me sometimes to read much less write. That has never happened before which is why I asked for your prayers. I need to stop feeling like God is disappointed with me when I am weak. I spend too much time judging myself and that is the devil’s work. God has given my a sound mind. Whatever it takes for me to keep my focus on Christ, I pray that God will lead me by his strength.
I do feel like a wounded Christian but I have purposed in my heart to never surrender to the enemy while I have breath within me! Thank you always for your counsel and for your teaching. You are a blessing to me.

I really love your articles it gives me a lot of strength to face all the things that is happening in my life right now. I would always pray that God would bless you for helping a lot of people, including people who are very far away from you (i live in South east Asia)
Please continue to write those inspiring article so that you would be able to help a lot more people who are facing difficult times right now.
I kept on reading the prayer and advice you gave me, and everytime i read it, it gives me a lot of HOPE. Thank you so much!!

Dear Renz, thank you for your kind words. I am so grateful that God speaks to you through my articles. I always pray that he will touch the hearts of those who need to hear from him.
Renz, you seem to have such a surrendered spirit that I know God will bless you. Everytime you trust God in your situation, you are making him LORD over your life. You are letting his power work through you for his glory. I pray that you will trust him in your present situation. He did not die to save you and to give you eternal life so that you could have nothing but heartaches here on earth. He has a plan to give you an abundant life so that whatever circumstance, whether it be good or bad, you will still give glory and praise to God knowing that he is working all things out for your good! He knows the path that is perfect and good and he will lead you there if you stay committed to following his will.
I believe God has big plans for you, Renz! I hope you will come back and let me know how you are doing! I will be praying for you!

Marianne, I finally got a minute to slow down and read some of your blog. Trusting God Through the Storm is very good. I am sure it has helped some people. It helped me, and my storm is more of a “breeze” compared to some I have been through. Oh, if we could always keep our eyes on Christ, we would fare so much better. I want to encourage you to keep writing. It is a blessed gift. I know. Sometimes we think no one is reading, or no one is listening, but they are. Thanks for the comment at my blog. Stay in touch

Good morning. Without a doubt, our light affliction works out a far more exceeding weight of glory. We often understand the mechanics of such truths, but it’s when we find ourselves at our wits end; sandwiched between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, that they truly become real to us.
Blessings always in Jesus name.

Hi, am new to this site but am really encouraged with what i have been reading. I am going through alot of problems at the moment but i have always looked back and think of other problems i have gone through in the past and how i overcame them. I have realised that God has always been there for me and He is with me to this day and forever for He tells us in Jeremiah 29 VS 11 that ” For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord. thoughts of peace and not of evil, to bring you an expected end.” God knows our problems and our sorrows, all we have to do is to call upon His name and He will hear us. If you knock He will open, if you ask He will answer your prayers. He is a true awesome God. He is a living God. I’ve got lots to say but let me leave it here for now.

Hi Joyce, I am so glad that you visited here. I truly believe that God leads the ones here that he has a personal message for. You know in your heart the truth that God will not fail you but sometimes it helps to have that message reinforced when you are feeling overwhelmed. Your faith will be rewarded for God did not forget about you. He will bring you to the purpose and plan that he fashioned just for your life! Your circumstance NEVER dictates your future. God knows how to make it all turn around and be used for your good. Your struggles are not hidden from the One who has the hairs on your head numbered. When it gets especially difficult for you, get into Scripture and be reminded of how your battle is not yours but God’s to fight. You need to be strong in faith to hold on and trust that nothing can overcome you or defeat you in your life. It may be hard to do now, but give your weakness over to God and let him lead you.
I am praying for you, Joyce, and I know God will not fail you.

Hi Angel, your prayers for your husband’s salvation honor God and he hears you. You must keep leading your husband by your example. Let him see the power of Christ in you at work and let God do the rest. I also am praying that for my husband.
The enemy roams this world seeking to destroy God’s people. His main target is marriages. I will be praying for you and your husband to be restored to wholeness and to walk together as one. God can always work in a marriage when you allow him to be at the center of it. He is also powerful enough to go into the enemy’s camp and take back what was stolen from you. I am joining with you in prayer for your marriage. One thing you should pray is for God to soften and change your heart so that you will be able to love your husband with an even greater love. Remember in Genesis when Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers? He ended up in an Egyptian prison for something he didn’t do. Although Joseph was an upright young man who honored and obeyed his God, he remained in prison for about 10 years. Why was that? It was because God was doing an even greater work in Joseph’s heart. He was softening him up to be ready to totally forgive his brothers who tried to kill him and to save his people from extinction from famine. In the process of getting Joseph ready to forgive and help his brothers, God was also getting Joseph ready to be royalty as second highest in command in Egypt. This young shepherd boy did not know that while he was in prison, his God not only did not forget him, he was working behind the scenes to get Pharoh ready to make Joseph his number one man. Sometimes in the wait, God is not only changing your husband’s heart, but he is doing something divinely special in your life also to make you ready to be who he created you to be.
I will put you on my prayer list and each night as I lift my prayer requests up, I will be lifting your marriage to God for healing. Stay in peace, my sister, for God is able to do exceeding more than you can imagine for you!

I have been afraid problem long time ago
and I want a love my self but i dont know how to love my self
i want a get heal..
March 12, 2011 at 12:34 pm
Marianne Lordi
Hi Jeeho, I am glad you stopped by because your problem is one so many people have had including myself. The reason you don’t know how to love yourself is because you are listiening to condemnation and lies coming from the enemy. You are basing your self-worth on what you have done instead of what Christ has done for you. If you don’t know Christ, you will always be trying to live up to your own self-imposed expectatations and you will always fail! But if you know Christ as Savior, you know that your failures mean nothing because Christ has always made a way for us to be restored. You can love because he first loved you. Jeeho, whatever your struggle is, you must turn it to Jesus. You must let go of it because it is something you cannot fix on your own. The good thing is that Jesus knows who you are and the plan he has for your life. He can take you to victory in all things if you will trust in him. I want you to know that I will be praying for you. I know your struggle because I have been there too. You just need to pray and ask Christ to reveal himself to you in a very real and personal way. Let yourself be open to know his unconditional love for you. If you have any questions whatsoever, please email me and I will try to help you. My email is: commish07@zoominternet.net. I will be praying for you because God has a way to help!

Hi Arlyne, I know it can be difficult to stand in faith when you are in a crisis, but sometimes all you need to do is be still and wait. Your terrible situation can be a tool used for your good if you will trust God to do all that he has promised. You need to know that God never has you go through your struggles alone. Now that you have come to my site, I will be joining with you and lifting you up to the throne of grace where God can give you peace despite what you are enduring. I know you are in pain now. Please know that I take all of my prayer requests here to God every night and trust him to work them all out in a way that he knows is good. I will be praying for you. Stay in peace, my friend. You are not alone.

I will be praying for your sons, Arlyne. The enemy knows that it crushes us with pain when our children have problems. Our hope is in knowing that God has authority over all that comes against us and he hears the prayers for our children.

The words of your article were indeed encouraging as I go throw my own drawn out storm. Right now I feel as if I’m standing in the sea and keep getting pounded by the waves. And just when I think it’s finished, or it can’t get any worse, another wave, worse than the previous one, hits me.
A few weeks ago I was spiritually driven to my knees. My sword was lowered, my back exposed and my spirit lay defeated. With great difficulty, after a few weeks, I managed to pick up my sword again and tried to stand to keep fighting. I don’t know, however, if I’m on my feet yet. I’ve been encouraged continuously to hold on because I’m going to be receiving my break through soon, only to have another wave hit me.
I am really exhausted now; spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and I’m scared, because, even though I’m told God is walking with me through this, His lack of response has left me feeling alone, and I don’t know how to survive this storm without Him.
I feel that I have let Him down, but my throat is raw with crying out to Him with only silence my companion. I don’t want to give way to despondency and depression, but God knows how eagerly they claw at me as my faith dwindles. Where is He? I need Him so much. I just want to climb onto His lap and have Him hold me and to just let the world not be there for a while.

Dear Marianne,
Thankyou so much for your prayers for the restoration of mt husband & my marriage, i appreciate your prayers very much.
God has blessed me so very much over the years, & has opened my eyes of understanding in many area’s.
I find it challenging to find equally yoked christians – regarding marriage restoration in churches today.
I pray God opens the spiritual eyes of christians, so we may walk confessing over our lives & the lives of others His Written Word by Faith.
I Thank God for your life, in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Hi Angel, I want you to know that I will continue to keep you and your husband in prayer. I know that there is a lot of attacks going on in marriages. Just keep your eyes on Christ and let him be at the center of your marriage. Don’t give in to anger and resentment no matter how hard it gets. Jesus can work out all of your struggles if you give them to him and trust that he will help.
Keep walking in faith, my sister, and be strong no matter what storm hits. I will be here for you and I will be praying. Be in peace for God knows how to give you the victory!

Hi Amanda, I am so glad that you stopped by here. I have been praying for you and for the battle you are facing. Whatever it is, you must remember that no weapon will ever be stronger than the power of Christ who is in the heart of every believer. When you have done all that you can do, you must rest and leave the battle to him! He knows how to rescue you from your situation. Although it may seem like he is slow to answer you, he is with you right now. His eyes are on you and he has heard you. It may be hard for you to wait on God’s timing, my friend, but you must. The wait is for a reason. It is a divine, deliberate delay because it is being worked out to bring good to you. We all have to trust that he will not fail us. The fact that you are alive now is because he is holding the beats of your heart. He is not going to let you fail but you must stand trusting in this battle.
Amanda, I pray that you are reading your bible every day. The truth that keeps you strong and that equips you to stand in faith is found in his holy word. I know you are weary but don’t let the enemy fill you with lies! Your God is able to keep you until he has perfected the plan he has for you. Believe, Amanda! He has taken you this far, do you think that he will just abandon you now?
I will be keeping you in prayer each day, Amanda. God already sees tomorrow. He knows what he has planned for your future. You don’t know the plans he has for you but you must know that his love is enough to take you through your pain. You can email me anytime: commish07@zoominternet.net
I am with you, Amanda. Let the word of God fill you with his peace. He will work it out.

Hi Marianne, I couldn’t have come across your site at a better time as I too am dealing with a major crisis right now. I have attempted to maintain my faith through this entire process but I will admit that it has been quite difficult. Every day I’m faced with another battle which makes me feel like giving up; however I know that is not of God so I push forward and continue to pray for strength and guidance.
March 2, 2012 at 11:04 pm
Marianne Lordi
Hi Vondi. I know how difficult it can be to keep the faith in the middle of a painful trial. I am there too. The truth is that all of our battles are allowed by God to bring us closer to him. The enemy will always try to get us to give up. Why would we do that when Christ has promised us the victory if we do not grow weary? Never listen to the lies of defeat coming from an enemy who has been rendered powerless by the cross of Christ. When you are feeling overwhelmed, surrender your fears and struggle to God. He will give you his strength and help you to continue on in the race he has set for you. And we can pray for each other. God never intends for us to be alone in the battle. He will always bring others to come along side of us and help us in our struggle. I will be praying for you, dear friend. It is hard now, but soon you will see the power of the God you serve. Keep your eyes on Christ. Read your bible each day and let the truth fill your mind and heart. You can email me if you ever want to talk. I will be praying.

Hi Anita, Whatever your situation, the hope you have lies not in what you can do but rather what God will do for you! It seems simplistic to say that when you grow weary in the struggle – rest! Rest in the assurance that Christ is more than enough to take you through this. He did not suffer and die for you to live in victory only to have a trial destroy you. He is with you and he has the authority to just speak a word and calm the storm you are in. I will be praying for you, my sister. I pray that you will rest in Christ and let his peace fill you. You are never alone!

Hi Arlyne, I will add you also to my prayer list. Your difficulty is an opportunity for God to show you who he is and to bring you closer to him. Each trial we face is used by God to mold you into his image. He is doing a work in you, my friend. You can still have joy no matter what you are going through when your trouble when you know that God’s plan for your life cannot be stopped. Whatever he allows you to endure must align with his purpose for which he permitted you to even have this struggle. It all must fit into his plan for you. Nothing can destroy a true believer. Take heart and be strong. God knows future he has for you.

Please keep me in your prayers. I’m going through a very tough time. I feel ashamed because I have lost my faith. I have even doubted whether God exist. I know He does, but then I wonder if he loves me because my life is so much worse than others. I have been sufferring for years, and each year seems to become worse. I have even contemplated suicide because the pain is too great. I need prayer to help me stay in faith.

Don’t lose hope. God’s time and ours is different. He love you, even when it seems he doesn’t even know you are there. Keep persisting. Pray and think and know he cares. Suicide is not an anwser.

TRG, I am so sorry for what you are going through. All of us have come to a crisis of belief in our faith at some time or another. We are all facing the darkness but we are NOT alone. God is with those who love him, dear friend! It may seem as if he is slow in coming to your aid but the truth is that he is already there! Call upon his strength for it is yours. You are focusing on your pain and do not understand now that it is that suffering that is going to usher you into his glory! Dear friend, hold on and stand in faith. Do not let your struggles have power over you for your future does not depend on what is going on in your life. Christ has ordained that you would be a victor! He has summoned you by name and he will never forget you. You belong to him. When you get weary, you let the lies of the enemy fill your mind. Please be strong and stay in God’s word. Read your bible every day! Just a chapter each day will give you the power that you need to face your troubles and know that God has authority over them all. You must never surrender to the enemy when Christ paid such a steep price to give you freedom.
Beloved, I am also going through tough times. It is difficult for me also. However, God has taken me too far in my life for me to doubt him now. I have tasted, I have seeen his hand at work. I know that despite the fact that I am facing a serious trial, he is with me and will not leave me to fight alone. I don’t have to feel him or see him or audibly hear him. His voice is in my heart. I know the truth. I have been set free by his power and I am more than a conqueror because Christ made me one! You must keep that truth for yourself also. Read your bible and let God speak to you. Don’t ever make your problems to be bigger than your God! Stand, dear friend, and believe! I am praying for you and I will continue to pray for you. You are never alone in your struggle. There is a time for it to end. But you must not grow weary and give up. You can not look at others and compare yourself. God has a perfect plan for you and it will not be like others. I am here. You can email me anytime to talk privately. I am praying that you will understand all that I have said. Your are dearly love, friend, so just keep your eyes on Christ until he finishes the purpose for your trial. I am here for you.

Good morning Marianne,
God woke me up this morning and led me to this sight. I am in a financial storm. When money gets tough, I tend to worry and stress a lot and pray that God would bail me out. Its like a vicious cycle that I cant get out of. Maybe I didn’t listen before but this year the Lord woke me up to caste my cares on Him. I’ve been arresting my negative thoughts with scriptures and trying to manage our money better. I don’t feel the anxiousness of the storm this time. Now it appears that I’m sitting in my carseat in the back of the car while Jesus is driving me through the storm. I hope that makes sense.

Hi Danielle, I am so glad that God led you to this site. I always pray that he will bring those for whom he has a message to give. Your words made perfect sense! Financial problems can be a heavy burden. It can bring fear and uncertainty into your life and make you wonder about your future. My sister, you are doing the exact right thing in surrendering your problem to Christ and listening and watching for his direction. Our God owns this world and everything in it. He has authority over all the trials that you face. Seek him out by reading your bible each morning. Get his truth into your heart and let his power be your strength. The devil hates when God’s people read Scripture. He knows the power that is there. God will give you the wisdom to get through this. I am praying for you, my friend. You just stay in that back seat because Jesus knows how to take you to victory!
